How to rename Blogger labels – Changing existing label names in Blogger

Tagging each and every post will make your site visitors to easily navigate and moreover it helps them to discover related posts within your site. To better organize your site content we always suggest you to label your blog posts. So for beginners we once made a post on how to use Blogger labels which you can go through. At one point you will realize to properly categorize your blog posts and that makes you to change the names of several existing labels in your blog. Here in this post we will see how to rename Blogger labels in a proper way.
In Blogger you can easily manage all your labels from posts area where you can add or remove labels. But currently Blogger has no such feature as renaming blog labels. The only option you have is by deleting the existing labels and adding a new one. There are two ways to implement this; one is by editing labels in each and every post which is time consuming. The other one is renaming labels by bulk action method that is deleting existing labels in all posts and assigning a new label to all those post. So here is how you do it.
Let’s say you are blogging about health and cookery and you have labeled Mango, Blackberry and Apple for several posts. Later on you decided to rename all the three labels into one and you wish to name that as recipes.

How to rename Blogger labels

First thing you have to do is explore all the posts filled under specific label. Then you have to add new labels to all those posts and remove existing ones.
How to rename Blogger labels
In your blog dashboard go to posts >> and you will see all labels drop down list box at the top right corner. Just drop down and select the label that you wish to change. As of example we are selecting Apple which shows all the posts labeled with Apple.
How to rename Blogger labels
Now you can select the bulk action check box or you can manually tick selected posts. You might end up in errors, so make sure that you are not selecting 50 posts at a time. After selecting the posts, drop down the label option and assign all the selected posts to a new label as you see in the image below.
How to rename labels in Blogger
You have added a new label to all those posts and now you have to delete all the existing labels. To delete, just drop down the label option and select the label which removes label from all selected posts.
In case if you try to access the deleted labels, then it simply displays 404 error page that is it shows “No posts with this label name”. Also note that adding and removing labels in your blog posts are only for your visitors and that does not affect your SEO campaign.
Hope this post guided you on how to rename Blogger labels. Share this post and subscribe to our blog feeds.

Blogging Tips for Newbies and Veterans

We’ve all seen them. The same old, tired lists of regurgitated tips on how to blog better. They’re so common, you could probably name most of them in your sleep. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of them. I want to know what really works.
Blogging
So whether you’re just getting started or have been blogging for awhile, here are 25 tips to help guide and direct you:

General

  • No copy-catting. Stop trying to be like someone you admire and instead find out what unique offering you have.
  • Tell the truth. Never lie, mislead, or cajole. Trust is slowly earned and easily lost.
  • Be awesome. There’s enough mediocrity out there. Stop adding to the noise, and do something outstanding.
  • Give yourself grace. Be patient; it takes time to find your voice.
  • Pick a theme. But realize readers will stick around for your voice, not your subject.

Growth and community

  • Don’t measure stats too early. If you’re obsessing over daily numbers and you’re only a few months into your blogging journey, you’re wasting your time. It’s still too early to pay close attention to trends. After that, make sure you have Google Analytics installed.
  • Make your content easy to share. The majority of content that’s shared online is done through social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, LinkedIn, and others. You should make this easy for your readers to tell their friends about you. (A WordPress plugin I recommend is DIGG DIGG.)
  • Encourage community. Write unfinished posts, and ask your community to complete the conversation.
  • Never underestimate the importance of networking. If you’re not connecting regularly with readers and other bloggers, you’re missing out.
  • Guest post, guest post, guest post. (Enough said.)

Writing

  • Write timeless content. On the web, old content is perceived as irrelevant. Don’t write a newspaper; create a resource. (This is, incidentally, why I intentionally don’t put dates on my posts.)
  • Don’t write too little or too much. Generally, I try to write at least 300 words and no more than 1000 words. More than that, though, only write as many words as it takes and cut the rest.
  • Have a point. Don’t just word-vomit on your audience.
  • Write with conviction. Pick a side and be bold. And if you’re wrong, admit it.
  • Short sentences win.

Motivation and inspiration

  • Don’t give up. Bloggers who stick with it ultimately win.
  • Write as often as possible. Constantly capture ideas and turn them into posts. A tool that may help is Evernote.
  • Expect critics. A few people hating you is a sign you’re doing something right. Be prepared.
  • Find ways to regularly get inspired. This is the only way you can inspire others. When you’re empty, fill yourself up. Don’t neglect this.
  • Realize you can only create or react. At any give time, make sure you know which one you’re doing.

Miscellaneous

  • Write for scanners. We live in a busy, distracted world. Don’t demand attention; earn it.
  • Build an email list. If you ever want to sell or promote something, having people’s email addresses (and their permission to use them) is essential.
  • Invest in a good web design. Bad design can get in the way of good content.
  • Be generous. Give away more information, content, and ideas than you’re comfortable with. People will reward you. Link to others, but never let someone pay you to do so.
  • Watch what experts do. Not just what they say.
These are my 25 tips. You probably have 25 of your own. And that’s okay, because I’ve realized that everyone needs to approach blogging in their own way. That’s part of the fun. Feel free to add to this list in the comments.

How to Include an RSS Feed in Blogs at Blogger.com / Blogspot.com

How to Include an RSS Feed in Blogs at Blogger.com / Blogspot.com

RSSinclude.com makes it very easy to include RSS feeds in your blog. Basically there are two areas on blogs where you can add an RSS box:

1) in the sidebar on the right side (containing the Blog Archive, About me and Followers...)
or
2) in blog posts.

We would like to explain both in the following sections.

1) RSSbox in the Sidebar of the Blog

This area of your blog is visible permanently. You can add a blog archive, your personal bio and much more to this area. Of course you can put an RSSbox from RSSinclude.com here. This is how:
a) Log in to your account at blogger.com. On top of the page there is a main menu. Click the "Layout" link, this will lead you to a graphical overview of your blog.
b) Click the "Add a Gadget" link. A new window will be opened displaying different gadgets from which you can choose. Select "HTML/JavaScript" to add third-party code like ours.
c) A form will appear which contains two form fields: title and content. You can type in a title for the gadget, e.g. "Latest RSS News".
d) The content of the gadget comes from RSSinclude.com. You should keep rssinclude.com opened in a new window simultaneously. In order to get your IncludeCode you have to create a new RSSbox first. As soon as you are done you will get an IncludeCode by clicking on "Include!".
e) Copy the IncludeCode of your RSSbox and paste it into the form at blogger.com (see screenshot).
f) Click the "Save" button to return to your blog administration.
g) You can click the "Preview" button to preview your changes or save the change layout by clicking the "Save" button.
h) Click the "View Blog" link (next to the "Monetize" tab) in the blogger administration. Subsequently your blog will be displayed containing a brand new RSSbox. You can still change the styling of the RSSbox at My RSSboxes. If you play around a bit you will be able to embed it very nicely.

2) RSSbox in a Blog Post

The second way of including an RSS feed in your blog is to embed it into a blog post. The following steps and screenshots show you how to do that:

a) Go to your blog administration at blogger.com. Click the "Posting" tab on top of the page. Edit the post in which you want the RSS feed to be displayed - or simply create a new post.
b) Click the "Edit Html" link on top of the rich-text editor. Subsequently the html code of you post will be displayed.
c) Open rssinclude.com simultaneously in a new window. Click the "Create a Box" link. Create and style your RSSbox as you wish. Keep in mind that its dimensions should fit into your blog post. As soon as you are done go to the "Include!" tab (see screenshot).
d) Copy and paste the JavaScript-code from rssinclude.com into the html of your blog post. Ensure that you paste the code in a spare line of the editor (see screenshot).

e) Click the "Publish Post" link. Blogger.com should now say "Your  blog post published successfully!". Click the "View Blog" link to display your changes.

f) This is how your blog post could look like. You can still change the styling of the RSSbox by surfing to My RSSboxes at rssinclude.com.

5 Reasons You're Not Making It As A Blogger Yet

Blogging has become a major source of income to many, thanks to the evolution of social media and the successful bloggers from whom many have become enticed.

Before, you’ll hear people say you should do it for the passion, but in  recent times, while a few still say it, many have given up on that idea. Most bloggers are now into it for the money. lol :)

While a lot do it for the money, many are towing the wrong path, expecting to get the right results, which is an aberration.

Even if you have Adsense account and your blog is relatively new, there is a high possibility that your ads account would be frustrating, due to the fact that your traffic is low, you don’t have loyal readers yet etc. but after reading this post, I believe your eyes would be open to why you are not earning yet.

Without further ado, lets get into why you are where you are as a blogger.

1. You are in the wrong Niche

If you are not in a niche where you are having fun, there is a high possibility you would fail (sorry to say).

If you came into blogging because of one famous entertainment blogger, consequently you named your blog “naijathis and naijathat”, with time, you’ll realize you are not enjoying yourself if you've got no passion for entertainment blogging.

Blogging is lucrative when you enjoy doing it, this way, you’ll be creative to generate ideas that would yield profit.

All you need to do, is to find something you love doing. No niche is bad. Some might look more profitable than others but if you are enjoying it,you’ll get people to like you and in no time, you’ll have made yourself an authority and a trail blazer.

Your niche should be one you can easily perform even when you are half asleep. When you find that area, never let it go.

2. You lack resources

I hear some people say they don’t have a laptop to blog with, they don’t have a modem with which to connect, they lack finance to subscribe etc…

With these excuses, how do you want to outshine one who is always online?

I wanted to give a guy a job to work for my client, since I won’t be available. To my surprise, he asked me to tell my client to pay him upfront so as to enable him buy data.  I found that ridiculous but I still cared and wanted to help. So, I obliged but my client refused and we ultimately gave it to somebody else.

How do you handle running out of data and abandon your blog for another 3 weeks because you do not have data. If you need a laptop, smart phone or any tool to help you blog right, do get it.

HOW?

Get a job.

It's more effective blogging if you have a job that funds your blog before you start making the profits’.

3. Zero, Poor or Wrong Publicity Method

If you blog and don’t publicize, then I wonder who would read your posts.

Entertainment bloggers tend to spam Facebook groups, but that’s not easy or adviceable for niche bloggers because the traffic won’t be targeted.

So publicity is very pertinent, but the method of publicity is very crucial too because you need to take your contents to a market were it’s needed. Imagine publicizing an agric blog to a mobile phone and tech community. You’d lose cash, waste precious time and be frustrated ultimately.

SOLUTION: Identify the particular market where your content is needed; don’t just start an ad because your friends are doing it, understand the need of your readers and meet it.

4. You’re following the crowd

If you came into blogging because of someone who made a lot of money, you are likely to do this because you will follow his rules and his rules alone.

However, the very first rule of blogging is that “Blogging has no rule”. Stop following peoples template and find what works for you. Your style should be your style.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t adopt people’s style, but you should make sure they are working for you, once they don’t, forget them, there is no rule to blogging.

Develop your style and don’t religiously follow their style because again there is no law.

5. You are not rendering services

I have said this time and again; I’ve made more money rendering blog services than I have from ads.

I get paid from what firms would call consultation (I don’t call it that yet) people contact me and ask me to tell them how I do things, I get paid designing blogs, adding some codes to templates, domain registering and setting up, and many other services and these requests come in so frequently that they give me tough time updating my own blog.

If you are not rendering services then you are losing a lot. Create a page on your blog telling your readers services you render and, post on twitter and on your Facebook wall services you can render and you will start getting requests in no time.

It can be anything, you can offer to update blogs for people ( 15 posts at $50 for 5 blogs would give you $250) and that is cool money for a start, and the interesting part is that you can use the same content(if it is an entertainment blog) for your own blog with only little  or no changes.

You can do a lot of things, just be creative and see the cash start trickling in. To Your Success.

Over to you,

What are the little things you do that bring income?

What are the things you used to do that you later found out you shouldn’t or should have started earlier.

How To Use Feedburner To Auto Post From Your Blog To Twitter

I auto post from this Blogger blog to Twitter account of the blog by making use of Feedburner Socialize feature. The service makes it easy to distribute your content to interested subscribers or followers on social networks using any FeedBurner feed you already have. At this time, the Socialize service only supports Twitter.

So, whenever I publish a new post on the blog, the title and a link back to the post automatically gets tweeted on Twitter. This feature utilizes Google URL shortening service to create short versions of my feed links, e.g. http://goo.gl/xyzxyz. And this makes it easy for me to track the clicks via goo.gl

I set it to generate hashtags from labels added to my posts and those hashtags are automatically added to the tweets. There is also an option to add additional text (which can also be an hashtag) at the beginning or end of the post. Inline hash tags are supported too.

If you want to use the service, sign in to feedburner.com and burn a feed for your blog.

If you have an existing feed there for your blog, click on it and click on the "Publicize" tab
Click "Socialize" and add your Twitter account. Once added, set the formatting options as desired and click "Activate"

Thereafter, if you publish a post on your blog, it should appear on the connected Twitter account.

That's all.

I hope this helps.
